Mighty (Music Monday)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.-Joshua 1:9

I struggle in times of transition…even during changes as simple as the end-of-summer-wind-down and back-to-school days. I find that these in-between seasons can throw me off-schedule, a little off-balance, and I definitely end up a little worn out trying to figure out new routines and how to manage the expectations and requirements of a new stage of life.

Change causes me to strive for control (which only leads to anxiety in my case)…so, in these times, I have learned that I have to be especially sure to keep my focus fixed on Jesus and my heart surrendered to Him. I find my hope (and peace for this sometimes frantic, frazzled heart of mine) in setting my mind on who He is and depending on His grace – His always sufficient grace – in my times of weakness.

So, today, on this Monday – a reminder for all of us: our God is mighty. He is faithful. He is with us, steadfast through it all. Through every change around us or within our hearts, through every new season, through every transition, through every need…He will not change and He will not fail.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”-1 Cor. 12:9

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. -Psalm 16:8

Mighty  (by Kristene DiMarco)

Here in the night and beyond the stars, You bring us hope much stronger than ours.

Lifting our heads and healing our lives, taking our pain as we lift our eyes.

Oh, Your death made a way.

We overcome by Your name.

We’re free in Your grace,

You are mighty to save.

When faith is a fight, when mountains are real, You lift us up; in Your light we heal.

As victors we sing of death swallowed whole,

and all that we hope will be all that we know.
