Choosing Him

Today we have a choice. And I hope that we choose adoration over anxiety, worship over worry.

I hope we choose to remember that He is always stronger, always bigger, always the God who overcomes.

This is how His joy becomes our strength, how His grace sustains us. This is where He gives peace. This is where we live by faith and not by emotion or what we can see.

Today, we choose trust. We choose joy. We choose gratitude. We choose truth.

We choose praise.

The Well (Music Monday)

I hope that you are encouraged by JJ Heller’s words about finding all that we need in God…and the song that she wrote to so wonderfully remind us of this truth.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”-John 4:13-14

Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”-John 7:37-38

“There is a river, there is a fountain
Deep enough for every soul…
You are the well that never runs dry.”

More Than Anything {Music Monday}

As the rain falls, as the gray skies linger, as broken hearts mourn and weary hearts wonder where rest is found…as violence batters the innocent again and again, as nation rises against nation, as our tomorrows feel more and more uncertainhope remains, one foundation stays steady and sure – and He is the One who says – Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. As life keeps moving forward, with all of its joys and all of its sorrows, may we take refuge in Jesus, who never changes. May we take hope in His promises – redemption, love that endures, a home in a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

“God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever…therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.” -Hebrews 6: 18-20, 4:14

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”-John 14:6

“I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but have the light of life.” -John 8:12

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.-2 Cor. 4: 16-18

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.”-Hebrews 1:3

“Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are His house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.”-Hebrews 3:6

Be Still, My Soul (Scripture & Song)

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him…-Psalm 62:5

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will claps their hands. Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.” -Isaiah 55:8-13

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come…so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -2 Cor. 1, 20-22, 4:18

“But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations…May Your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in You.” -Psalm 33:11, 22

“You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me…If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.”-Psalm 139:5, 8-10

“But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.” -Psalm 13:5-6

The One You Can Trust…

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you…He will never let the righteous be shaken.-Psalm 55:22

There are no cares too small or insignificant. There are no cares too big or too complicated. There are no lost causes and there are no too-far-gones. He doesn’t think you are infringing on His time. He doesn’t think that you should be strong on your own and have it all together. He doesn’t think that your fears are silly. He doesn’t turn away from your tears.

He will never turn you away.

So what will He do when you cast your cares on Him?

He will listen. He will sustain (strengthen and support) you. He will be near to you. He will deliver you from your fears. He will steady your heart and renew your mind. He will be your peace. He will be the sturdy foundation, your safe refuge, your joy. He will work all things together for your good, according to His purpose…because He is the God of redemption, the God of mercy, the God of all power and might. No matter what the cares in your life might be and no matter how big they seem to you—NOTHING is impossible for God.

He loves you, friend. Your life matters to Him. You matter to Him.

So may we choose to trust Him – to rely on Him. May we lay everything down before Him, holding nothing back. I hope we can understand and hold onto the truth, soul-deep, that He is all-sufficient…always good…and forever-faithful.

“Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I…”

“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the One who sustains me.”

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.”

“Power belongs to You, God, and with You, Lord, is unfailing love.”

(Psalm 61:1-2, 54:4, 62:5-8, 11-12a)

Music Monday {No Longer Slaves}

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” -Romans 8:15

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. -2 Cor. 3:17

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…from 1 John 4:18
